In 1946, master carpenter John Mason built Grandview for his wife and son as their family home.
In 1998 we became the third owners of the home. The following year we started a decade plus renovation and improvement project to expand the outdoor living space, enhance the view and restore and increase the gardens while keeping the original charm.
In 2009 we started the renovations to create the Osprey Nest. We transformed the second floor of our home into a dedicated guest suite with king bedroom and separate living room complete with reading library, telescope for bird watchers and star gazers and for those who enjoy a good tv show or movie, a 46" flat panel tv with satellite channels including the professional football package in the fall and a 200+ DVD collection.
Our home page aerial photo was found amongst treasures left behind by the prior owners and it was taken in the late 1980s. Come see how we've made Grandview even better and enjoy our pier, pool, screened porch, pathways to our gardens and grounds and lounging and reading areas.
We hope your time at the Osprey Nest will show you why we came to Mathews for a weekend and decided to stay a lifetime!
